The oak is my favorite. I actually prefer the solid wood, rather than the plywood with a veneer of oak or birch. But there is a huge difference in the cost. A two foot by four foot oak plywood $10.57. I bought one 6 inch wide by four foot long oak, two of poplar the same size and one pine 6 inches wide by three feet long. Cost of these four pieces of lumber $35.00. All of the wood is one quarter of an inch thick.

The type of wood really does make a difference! They all look very nice :)
